The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, Class A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, recently recycled part of their baseball field by donating 92,000 square feet of Kentucky blue grass to area schools. The Fox Cities Stadium is undergoing a renovation of the drainage system and will be cutting trenches on the baseball field.

The athletic director of the Weyaugwega-Fremont High school says the school’s baseball field collects water and isn’t very even. Since he is on the Timber Rattlers staff during the summer, he was able to secure sod for the school’s field. With the help of  local businesses, the field is now leveled out.

Three other high schools will benefit from the sod donation. View the video below or read the whole story on WeAreGreenBay.com.

Donating sod is one thing, but when donating synthetic turf, are you really “playing” it forward? Read more about the issue here.
