Field Rover

Bush Turf developed the Field Rover, which uses geospatial position referencing, spread spectrum lasers, digital photography and a proprietary surface condition sensor to create a 3-D model of a field’s surface. This model shows field conditions with millimeter accuracy and can be used to evaluate field safety, surface variances, sinkholes, post-event changes, defective areas in synthetics and wear areas. The 3-D file can have any desired changes made and then be transferred directly into the grading equipment. Fields can be built with millimeter accuracy in all three dimensions. A field can be returned to its designed shape consistently year after year. The Rover is not currently for sale, but is designed to fold into its shell for easy transport so Bush Turf can provide precision measuring and grading.

Cleansing Solution

Kochek has introduced the Shokray Blu pellet, a complete cleansing solution for artificial turf and more. An ionic action from the pellet forms a blanket of long-lasting protection. It inhibits the growth of odor-causing bacteria and other microorganisms on the surface of turf, stadium seats and other public surfaces. Its penetrating action is enhanced by being suspended in Kochek’s Big Water surfactant. One pellet, used in the standard or deluxe pellet applicator, will dissolve in about 1,000 gallons of water at 70 to 90 PSI. Apply the product, then rinse the area thoroughly.

Nutrients for Healthy Soil & Turf

Growth Products has expanded its product line to include BioNutrients 8-0-9, an organic biostimulant and soil conditioner. The dry concentrate is fully soluble in water and comes in easy-to-use 8-ounce packs. It helps improve turf health, increase root length, neutralize soil salts, improve turf color and make turf better able to withstand various environmental and disease stresses. It contains three species of rhizosphere bacillus (B. subtilis, B. megaterium and B. licheniformis), along with wild cultures of yeast and all the extras that allow these beneficial microbes to successfully colonize the soil. A high concentration of L-amino acids provides slower-acting nitrogen.

Flexible Two-Wire Controller

Sapien, a dedicated two-wire controller that operates up to 63 stations, is now available from Underhill International. The decoder-based controller uses the same valve decoders that are installed in a Hunter ICC two-wire system and in Underhill’s Universal 2Wire modules. Designed for flexibility, Sapien works in multiple applications: new irrigation systems, a multiwire conversion or a two-wire (or multiwire) expansion. No special wiring or field grounding is required. A LightTouch screen talks the user through the setup with buttons that light up sequentially. Sapien offers ABCD and manual programs, seasonal adjust by percentage and 12 start times per day. It is radio-control-ready and compatible with rain/wind/frost sensors. Stainless steel wall mounts, waterproof enclosures and pedestal models are available.

Play On

The 6-foot Heavy-Duty Slicing Aerator, new from TurfTime Equipment, aerates quickly without damaging turf or disrupting play. Its tempered steel blades break less and outperform cast blades. The pointed, sharp tines plunge to a depth of 7.5 inches, aided by dual water-weighted tanks that ensure consistent penetration, even in dry soils. The 8-inch smoothing roller leaves a turf surface ready for immediate play. The aerator can operate at 10 mph.

Start a Revolution

FieldTurf has released the Revolution artificial turf fiber. The keys to fiber performance are polymer, process and geometry. The proprietary polymer formulation resists splitting and degradation and also features strong ultraviolet inhibitor technology. A state-of-the-art extrusion process for precision manufacturing ensures the production of a strong fiber and a radical reflection feature built into each artificial grass blade. Intricate concave and ridged construction eliminates breaking points and provides for a natural-looking fiber.
