ASBA Holds Technical Meeting

The American Sports Builders Association held its annual technical meeting at the Hyatt Regency in Savannah, Ga. The meeting included sessions on advanced techniques in sports facility design, construction and materials, as well as basic “how-to” programs. It also featured an exhibit hall, social events to facilitate networking, golf and tennis tournaments, meetings of boards and committees, presentations of industry awards, exams for the ASBA professional certification program, and more.

Shaw Industries Completes Acquisition of Sportexe

Shaw Industries Group, Inc. announced the completion of the acquisition of Sportexe Construction Services, Inc., a synthetic turf company dedicated to sports surfacing. The acquisition will bring together Shaw’s current TerraSport sports turf and TerraSoft recreational surfaces brands with Sportexe’s current product offering.

Echo Acquires KPI

Echo, Inc., Lake Zurich, Ill., has acquired Kwik Products, Inc., which has manufactured trimmer heads and line for 12 years. KPI will continue to operate out of Phoenix, Ariz., as an independent company led by current president, Fernando Iacona.

Schiller Expands Sales Team

Schiller Grounds Care, Inc. has added new members to its sales team. Bert Albing, who will handle the West Coast as regional sales manager, comes to Schiller from Shindaiwa and has more than 20 years of experience in the power equipment industry. Ken Loder has worked for Wright Mfg. and Giant-Vac and will serve as regional sales manager for the Northeast. Freeman Geiser has returned as a sales manager for the Steiner brand after a brief hiatus. Geiser previously spent 19 years at Steiner.
