New President for CGC and SPI

Commercial Grounds Care, Inc., manufacturer of BOB-CAT, Bunton, Ryan and Steiner equipment, and Schiller-Pfeiffer, Inc., manufacturer of Classen, Little Wonder and Mantis equipment, have named Pat Cappucci president of the affiliated companies. Cappucci has over 10 years of experience in the outdoor power equipment industry. AN engineer by training, he holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree. In his new position, Cappucci hopes to build upon the equity in the businesses and drive new innovation and growth in the enterprise.

Grigg Brothers Hires Sweet

Steve Sweet has joined Grigg Brothers Foliar Fertilizers as a Midwest territory manager serving the golf, turf and sports field markets in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio. Sweet is a former golf course superintendent with 10 years of experience working for turf dealerships in Indiana.

Thomas Names Etholm President

Petter Etholm has joined Thomas Equipment, Inc. as president and CEO, and has been appointed to the board of directors. Pre-viously, Etholm was a consultant to the Thomas Equipment 2004 subsidiary. He was formerly the president of Cardsmart Retail.

Ariens Purchases Auburn Consolidates

Ariens Company has completed the acquisition of the former Auburn Consolidated Industries. The facilities in Auburn, Neb., have been renamed Ariens Company-Auburn Operations. Full-scale employment needs will continue to be assessed over the next several months.

Greene Elected to Synthetic Turf Council

Stanley H. Greene, president and CEO of Sprinturf, was elected to the board of directors of the Synthetic Turf Council (STC). Founded in 2003, STC serves as an objective resource, assisting buyers and end users with the selection, use and maintenance of synthetic turf systems.

Penn State Selects GameDay Grass 3D

GeneralSports Venue, exclusive U.S. licensee of AstroTurf-branded products, announced the completion of three new GameDay Grass 3D synthetic turf playing fields at Penn State University. The three fields include the 89,000-square-foot Bigler Field, a competition practice field for soccer, lacrosse and field hockey, and the 190,000-square-foot West Campus Intramural Complex, which includes two multipurpose fields.

Doosan Infracore Completes Bobcat Acquisition

Doosan Infracore announced that it has completed the acquisition of the Bobcat Utility Equipment and Attachments businesses from Ingersoll Rand Company. The three entities will operate as individual businesses of Doosan Infracore International, and will be known as Bobcat, Doosan Infracore Portable Power and DII Attachments.

AlturnaMats Acquires Mobile Matts

AlturnaMats, Inc. has announced the acquisition of Mobile Matts. Phil Schounard will continue to head up Mobile Matts and operate from the Green Bay, Wis., facility. Mobile Matts will now be available through AlturnaMats’ dealer network.

STI Completes Installation

Synthetic Turf International (STI) has completed the installation of a flag football field at the Lester H. White Boys & Girls Club of Broward County’s NFL Youth Education Town Center.

Designed at approximately three-quarters of the size of a regulation football field, the project included the removal of over 400 tons of material from the club’s existing multipurpose field. Gravel and PVC pipe were utilized to provide adequate drainage prior to the installation of 32,000 square feet of Sports Turf XP.

Lohmann Completes Notre Dame Projects

Lohmann Sports Fields has completed two high-profile projects at the University of Notre Dame. The entire field at Notre Dame Stadium was stripped and resodded with bluegrass imported from Colorado. The company also built a new softball field on the South Bend, Ind., campus.
