McCord Joins MPT
MPT-Mustard Products & Technologies, Inc. has hired Jay McCord as U.S. turf market development manager to lead the launch of MustGro Invest biological nematicide. McCord has over 25 years’ experience in the turfgrass industry and has been focused on the biological nematicide business for the past five years. After completing his formal education at State University of New York, Alfred, and Ohio State University, majoring in landscape development and ornamental horticulture, he started his turf career with Nutri-Turf, Inc. He also worked for ProSource One and Pasteuria Bioscience.
Spielman to Deliver Keynote at OTF Show
The Ohio Turfgrass Foundation and keynote address presenting sponsor Syngenta announced that Chris Spielman will be the keynote speaker at the 2012 OTF Conference & Show. Spielman is a former Ohio State Buckeye and two-time All-American linebacker. Following his collegiate career, Spielman spent 11 seasons in the National Football League and was a Pro Bowl selection four times. The Association of Washington Business announced that Eco Chemical is the recipient of the AWB Environmental Excellence Award, winning in the Green Enterprise & Technology Award category. AWB’s Environmental Excellence Awards recognize member companies of all sizes and types across the state for their initiative, innovation and outstanding achievements in environmental compliance, protection and conservation. AWB recognized Eco TempLine, the company’s water-based removable paint for synthetic turf fields, as a symbol of the company’s commitment to making environmentally friendly paints and stains.
Netafim Names New District Sales Managers
Netafim USA expanded its sales and marketing activities in California and the south central region with three new district sales managers. Omar Alcantara will oversee sales and marketing efforts in Southern California/south counties; Bill Millward will represent Netafim in Southern California/north counties; and Kevin Wood will cover Louisiana, New Mexico and south central Texas.
IFH Group Names Ellefsen President
The IFH Group has named Keith Ellefsen as president. Ellefsen takes over the presidential duties from James King Jr., who retains his position as CEO. Before being named president, Ellefsen served as vice president of operations and chief operating officer since 2006. He joined the IFH Group in 1999, when it was known as Sauk Valley Equipment Co., as research manager, then moved to plant manager. He holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Southwestern College.

OSTA Holds Annual Convention, Changes Name
The Oregon Seed Trade Association held its 43rd annual summer convention in Sunriver, Ore. Attendees were updated on current issues and projects underway at the Oregon tall and fine fescue commissions, the Oregon Department of Agriculture, Oregon State University and the American Seed Trade Association. OSTA awarded $3,000 in scholarships to Isaac Keister and Chase Cochran. OSTA members voted to change the name of the association to Oregon Seed Association.
The 2012-2013 executive officers are Duane Klundt, president; Bryan Muntz, vice president; Todd Bond, secretary/treasurer; and John Thyssen, past president. The board of directors includes Greg Loberg, Leon Strait, Mandi Mack, Brian Martin, Scott Harer and Jeff Martin.
Jacobsen Adds to Customer Care and Sales Staff
Jacobsen added to its customer care and sales departments. Mike Dahlin is Jacobsen’s newest product support manager. He has over 10 years of golf course maintenance equipment experience, most recently with Rain Bird as a service engineer. Dahlin will support dealers and customers in the northwestern U.S.
Al Hicks recently started as territory sales manager, responsible for supporting dealers and customers along the coast in South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. He comes to Jacobsen with over 22 years of experience, with positions at ShowTurf, Georgia Turf & Tractor, Tycrop, Greenville Turf & Tractor and Willow Creek Golf Club.
Evan Seifert was hired as product sales demonstrator and will support dealers in the Midwest. He brings over 35 years of golf maintenance experience to Jacobsen, working in various positions at courses in Michigan.
