Opening General Session
Wednesday, Jan. 25
8 – 9:30 a.m.

As the kick-off event, it will feature two speakers: Drs. Andrew McNitt and John Sorochan. Dr. McNitt is one of the industry’s foremost researchers on sports turf playing surface characterization. He serves as a professor of soil science/turfgrass for Penn State University, is the director of Penn State’s Center for Sports Surface Research and is the technical advisor to the NFL Groundskeepers Organization. Dr. Sorochan is a distinguished professor of turfgrass science and management in the University of Tennessee Plant Sciences Department. He is also the co-director for the UT Center for Athletic Field Safety, where his team investigates athletic field performance and safety as well as athlete-to-surface interactions.

Keynote Address, Annual Meeting & Lunch
Thursday, Jan. 26

Laura Katen, president of Katen Consulting (a New-York based professional development training company) has been selected to present the event’s keynote address. She will address the topic of professionalism, along with how communication at an individual and organizational level influences how you’re perceived by your peers, your employer and your community.

CEUS & Pesticide Recertification Credits

Many organizations are awarding CEUs at the event. CEUs will be available through ASBA, GCSAA, NRPA, PGMS and NALP. Pesticide recertification credits will only be available for Florida. If you’re attending from another state and are in need of pesticide recertification credits, you’re responsible for contacting your state’s department of agriculture for approval.

Seminar on Wheels Tours
Tuesday, Jan. 24
7 a.m. – 4 p.m.

See the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ practice facility, then tour their gameday field, Raymond James Stadium. The final stop is Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, which sits on 220 acres and hosts more than 200 competitions annually. *Additional fee required. Includes transportation, tour and lunch.

Friday, Jan. 27
1:15 – 5 p.m.

Take the half-day tour to see Barnett Park, a 159-acre park operated by the Orange County parks and recreation department. It offers disc golf, a golf driving range, a boat launch, a 12,000 square-foot gymnasium and sports fields consisting of two football fields and two adult softball fields. The next stop will be to the Citrus Bowl, home to various collegiate football competitions and bowl games. *Additional fee required. Includes transportation and tour.
